Woohoo, I'm over 2000! \o/ Last month's numbers are down somewhat after weeding out stuff I'd accidentally noted down twice and subspecies that I thought were species.

The fungi season started out well, but then it got really dry. Still, fungi have now outstripped lichens in my list. I was at a moss inventory camp in southern Sweden, and saw a couple of mosses I'd never seen before. Also I got my dad to take me birdwatching - left to my own devices I will look down on the ground and not notice the birds.

Lacking your expert knowledge, all I can report is that after 14in of rain in the month of August, Rhinelander Wisconsin is graced by thousands of mushrooms of every conceivable size, color, density, and important characterizations I don't even know about. Very pretty -- I assume the brightest and boldest are the most likely to be dangerous. Wild scatterings, perhaps the result of a very long body underneath.
