Here are the 25 goals for my 2016 bingo card, grouped according to whether I did them (13), did them partly (7), or did not do them (5). Must ponder 2017 bingo card a bit more...

Things I did:
- Work out/lift weights at least once a week.
Yes! I did much better than that--I got into a habit of doing a seven minute workout every day. It is SO GOOD for me. I used to do very little weightlifting or equivalent since it felt like such a project to go somewhere to do it. But now I can do it when I get home from work and it is no bother at all. And I am so much stronger than I used to be, too! Very much recommended.

- Do salary negotiations with my union [insert boring explanation about Swedish labor practices].
Yes, I did this. It had the ridiculous result that they offered me a higher raise than I asked for. Probably their line of thought was "oh hey here is that bothersome syndicalist union, but it is only one person so we will bribe her with a higher salary and hope she is satisfied".

- Make a new friend.
My new friend this year is an acquaintance whom I know through environmental organization work who moved to town, and now we regularly geek out about nature stuff together. Also we organized this summer's forest inventory trip together. She is 21 and I am 37, so yay for age-disparate friendships, I guess? I also got to know one of my cousins better.

- Sleep 20 nights outside/in a tent.
I did 22 nights this year, most of them in my hammock.

- See ten new-to-me species of vascular plants in Sweden.
I saw FORTY-SIX new species, which is really a lot, but this is because of the Great Species Contest of 2016, which I didn't know about when I set these goals. Also, ten of these are garden escapees so they don't count as much. But hey, 36 new native species! This is very cool.

- Read < 1/3 American books.
I discovered in 2015 that half the books I read were from the US, and this year I got it down to 33%. More in book write-up.

- Go swimming in 20 new lakes/places by the sea.
Yup, I did this. I think it was exactly 20 new ones?

- Perform somewhere together with my sister.
Yes! We sang my Swedish translation of Bread and roses at the syndicalist May Day parade in Gothenburg. I think it may have been our largest audience ever.

- See twenty new species of mosses in Sweden.
Ha, fifty-six new species.

- See five new hoverfly species.
Thirteen!

- Go to one of the Swedish national parks I haven't been to.
I was in Söderåsen national park with [personal profile] exeterlinden and it was excellent.

- Geek out in the south (context: I spent a lot of 2015's outdoors/nature geekytimes in the north of Sweden).
Yup. There was Söderåsen, Gotland, Ramsvikslandet in Bohuslän, a moss inventory camp in Skåne, and a week at my family's summer place in Småland. So I definitely did this.

- Hike in the mountains (I didn't do this in 2015, and I especially want to hike in Padjelanta, where I haven't been in the summertime).
I did this, but not in Padjelanta. Linden and I had planned to go there, but then she got pregnant. :P So we decided on the much-less-strenous Söderåsen. I went to the mountains on my own instead, to the north side of Torne Träsk.

Things I partly did:
- Record 3h of podfic.
Errr, no. Only made 32 minutes of podfic.

- Record four podcasts [related to my environmental work].
Only made one.

- Go to some activity/meeting which sounds interesting but is out of my comfort zone or that I have never done before.
I went to one thing which was kinda new, but not enough? It was a conference meant as a meeting place between the environmental movement and DIY tech geeks. I knew some of the tech geeks from before so it was not really that new an experience, even if I did also meet interesting new people.

- Help arrange the May Day march.
Well, yes, but I didn't do that much.

- Make lots of jam in the berry/fruit season.
This got downgraded in favor of the species contest. I made some äpplemos (mashed apples?) and some körsbärskräm (cherry...soup?). (I think the conclusion here is that I do not know the English terminology for jams and related things.) Also I picked nettles and made nettle soup, which is not a jam but still something you harvest in the wild. What I really want to do is pick and make lots of lingonberry jam since that is my staple jam.

- Find a new research collaboration/project.
Maybe? But it's a bit early to tell if it will be fruitful.

- Record an album with my sister.
We are working on an album with nature songs for kids, and we've done some of the arrangements, but not any actual recordings. This is just a project for fun; we have no commercial ambitions. We both sing and she plays the guitar.

Things I didn't do:
- Change banks.
This is a bit embarrassing, since this was an unfinished goal in 2015 as well. /o\ I use one of those big corporate banks and I want to put my money somewhere less evil. But I always put it off since there are more urgent things to do.

- Write a scientific article together with Senior Scientist Guy from my summer mountain work.
No, but the next bit is on him, so all I can do is remind him.

- Spend 24 hours in a tree.
Nope. Planned a bit for it, but it didn't happen.

- Take part in at least two union negotiations/actions.
No. I attempted to be there and listen in/help out on one negotiation, but the employer side didn't turn up.

- Get a tattoo.
No, but I thought about it and know exactly what I want to get.

I'm very impressed by the both the things you imagined yourself capable of doing, and then that you exceeded those goals!

(How can one person be a syndicalist union? How can one person not be an anarchist union?)

Below what {water|air} temperature will you not swim in a lake?
