How to get an ego-boost

Substitute for a teacher/researcher whose strong suit is not actually teaching (or at least not teaching undergraduate students). Then you get students saying stuff like: "omg thank you, now I actually understand something!" and "oh I wish we had you as a teacher instead, you're so good!". : D

I mean, this is probably mostly by comparison--if they had me all the time I'm sure they'd get used to me and also realize I am not perfect. But this is very nice for my ego. : )
