1. My month at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van is over. I'd make a list of my recs here, but gah, I'm sick of coding. They're here, anyway. I think I succeeded pretty well with my goal, which was to rec 1) rare pairings and gen and 2) unrecced authors. I recced eight different pairings, none of which was any of the three major slash pairings, and three gen fics. Also, I recced six authors who'd never been recced on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van before.

2. [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon is almost over, and it's been both fun and kind of tiring (which goes for the reccing, too). My latest podfics over there are And Spite of This Cold Time by [livejournal.com profile] wildestranger (Temeraire gen with Laurence/Granby/Tharkay subtext, rated PG) and a thread through spring by [livejournal.com profile] nekokoban (the anime series Tactics, Haruka/Kantarou, rated PG-13). You know, I might think I don't care about the points, but I totally do. I am currently in sixth place out of thirty.

My voice is a better, though I still have to be careful not to talk too much, and to try to use the right technique when I do.

3. I have sent two fics off to beta.

4. In non-fannish news, I am gardening. The house we live in now has a quite nice garden, not very big, but there are two vegetable beds dug up by the last owner. So we're sowing some carrots and red beets and beans and parsnips and stuff. It's my boyfriend's idea--he loves gardening--but I'm glad we're doing it. I was out working in the garden today, and there were lots of Callophrys rubi (a small green butterfly) as well as several species of bumblebee. We're sowing Phacelias to attract more insects. Also, there's an identification guide to hoverflies coming out soon, which I am totally buying (those are the ones that mimic wasps). Huh, this was kind of about fannish stuff too, except the fandom is nature.

For now, please comment at the LJ entry.

Congratulation on a job very well done. I'm working on my recs from a different angle, which is as it should be, but I swear I told someone I'd recommend their new fic first, if you didn't, and now I can't remember what it was (going to Montana randomized things, a lot).

I'm also applaud your productiveness; I'm trying to set up a final edit of my first, ong, BtVS-verse story for reposting on DW, and I'm only up to the "think about existing problems you know it has" point.

Julia, I did finish a piece of jewelry yesterday, but that doesn't count.

My big problem with editing the old fic is that three people who volunteered to help me with the final edit died before it was finished. I'm lacking fresh eyes for the story, and also feeling very superstitious about asking anyone to read it.

I do have a marvelous set of icons and a cover for it, though.

Julia, life is weird that way.

One of the disadvantages of hanging out with fandom crones; all three of them were my seniors.

I am loathe to even put up a request for editing help: it's 80 chapters of historical fiction with ridiculous amounts of age-of-sail technical descriptions, and took me two years to write. A cautionary tale to young fic writers: do not bite off more than you can chew.

Julia, just replying to make fun of myself while using the good icons.

I saw that you had posted your Fraser/Victoria story and I so desperately want to read it...but I'm making myself wait until I'm done with Big Bang - kinda like an incentive to finish...

Still, a month to be proud of.
