Whew. I'm at my parents' place, and my sister and her two kids have been here since Wednesday; they left today. I love my nieces so much! The two-year-old is starting to really talk and play now. One of her favorite things is to enthusiastically pull all her clothes off and do the "rumpa-lala" dance, which consists of spinning around naked and shouting "rumpa-lala!" Awwww. (ETA: "rumpa" in Swedish just means rump.) The six-year-old is also adorable; she's a very social person who wants company all the time, but she's also sensitive to what others want and very affectionate (lots of hugs and kisses).
OTOH, I was also very relieved when they left and I could get some time alone. My mom tried to say "Oh look, you're so good with kids, it's a pity you don't want any! Don't you want to change your mind?" No, thank you! These kids are indeed adorable but that doesn't mean I want kids of my own.
Gah, I am now behind on everything, including work. But it was worth it--besides my sister, my best friend and her two kids were also here for a week (her parents are neighbors with my parents).
And fun times: I am isolating for a different reason than covid! Always nice with variety. My nieces both had the winter vomiting sickness (calicivirus, or so they assume), but it was over three days before they came. This should have been enough, but then Mom threw up yesterday morning. /o\ So she's isolating within the house as best I can get her to do so (arrgh), but I can't in conscience go home to my housemates yet, and risk bringing it to them...I'm fine so far, and in fact have never had this disease--maybe I'm one of the lucky ones who are immune. I can hope.

Date: 2022-01-09 08:02 pm (UTC)Winter vomiting sickness—I don't think I've heard of that, unless I know it by another name. *looks it up* Ah, stomach flu—yes, that is nasty. I've never had it either. I hope you continue to avoid it!

Date: 2022-01-09 08:09 pm (UTC)Strangely, my sister feels ill now, a week after she was wiping up after the kids throwing up and didn't get it then! It's a mystery. Thanks for the good wishes!

Date: 2022-01-10 09:40 am (UTC)But arrrgh, I am so frustrated with my mom. We're a bit unsure what she actually has--it could also be the ordinary flu, or very possibly covid (but that's unlikely since she has both already had it, is vaccinated twice, and tested negative on a quick test). BUT she is so bad at taking responsibility! She was feeling better today and used the downstairs shower, in the bathroom she agreed not to use, because she doesn't like using the bathtub in the upstairs bathroom! Arrrrgh, it drives me crazy.
