I see I wrote a draft of a post complaining about how my nose was clogged up and I was not allowed to take the nose spray anymore, and I couldn't sleep because of it. But suffice it to say that I have had a bad cold which has lasted three weeks. /o\ It's still ongoing, but I'm on the mend now.

I made another book! This one has blue cloth on the spine and a matching blue marbled paper on the covers. Note the ribbon placeholder, I haven't done that before. I'm almost completely satisfied with this one; it has some small asymmetries in how the covers are glued on, but generally I'm proud of it! It's a collection of all my fic which isn't due South or Flight of the Heron.

Poor you, that is an awfully long time for a cold to last! I'm glad it's getting better now.

And that's a lovely book :D The marbled pattern is beautiful, and I like the matching colours of pattern, cloth and ribbon. Very smart.

RIBBON PLACEHOLDER. Truly the pinnacle of fancy bookbinding!

When I was young there was a series that I liked, the Dear America Diaries, where ALL the books came with ribbon placeholders and it felt so luxurious to me that I attempted to attach ribbon placeholders to my own diaries in imitation.

I believe I taped it to the outside of the spine, which was not as elegant as I would have liked, but one does what one must when one is ten!

It looks so lovely!! I have some of my grandfather’s old marbled prize books and they look fantastic but very few of them contain anything I want to read, which would not be the case with this!

The book is so pretty!

I'm sorry you've been unwell. I've had that persistent cold thing and it's very tiring. A shame you can't use nasal sprays. :(

Oh, so lovely! The marbled paper is so nice, especially with the blue book cloth.

Sorry to hear about your cold! That’s miserable, but it’s good that you’re on the mend.

Another beautiful book you've made! I am particularly charmed by the ribbon book-marker and by the fact that it's an old-fashioned style of book while it contains contemporary fic.

I really hope your cold is better now! (especially as I'm late to comment) And that is so pretty, especially with the ribbon. If I ever finish all three volumes of my original thing, I'm going to commission you to make a beautiful edition of them, if you should be up for it at that far-future point :)

An even further-delayed reply ;) I'm glad you're better!
I'm happy to make things for people I know. Actually I had idly thought of offering to bind your first one. : )
This is very kind of you on all counts. Thinking of a beautiful binding will give me a little extra motivation to finish the whole thing :) (and maybe come that point I can find you some nice Japanese paper or something as a return)
