Bonus farm news: When I came home this evening we had a dead wild boar hanging from a rafter in one of the sheds. It had apparently got stuck in a fence wire with its leg, and a neighbor helped my housemate to shoot it. But then he had to go to work and did not have time to gut it etc, and now it's too late. So no boar meat for us. But then, I bet it was super stressed by having its leg caught (poor boar!) and perhaps the meat would not have been good on that account. So now we have a boar carcass to dispose of somehow...

Dec 10th - 1120 words. More work on a fic, an expanded 1character sentence, and I finished the fic I started yesterday, except for a final edit before posting tomorrow.

Also, WOW, re: the wild boar. That's intense! I'm sorry to hear you won't be able to make use of the meat and also that you now have to dispose of the poor thing. I hope it doesn't prove to be too stressful!

I'm a city girl, so your farm stories are fascinating! Good luck with dealing with your carcass.... (which is a sentence I never thought I'd write!)

Ha ha, it does kind of sound like we murdered someone! And I've only had a farm for a year, so much of it is still new to me. Yay for your drabbles! \o/

That's a shame about the boar! For just that reason, the Iditarod (the famous sled-dog race in Alaska) has a rule that any musher who kills a big game animal on the trail has to field-dress the animal before continuing. A couple of years ago the race leader got penalized two hours for field-dressing a moose improperly.

So now we have a boar carcass to dispose of somehow...

If it helps, the United States Forest Service has a document on how to dispose of horse carcasses with dynamite. (If you go this route, I request video, please.)


Dec 10. 800 words. Nearing the end of this story. All I need is a dismount. Sadly, I have no idea what the dismount might be...

Ha, that's an awesome sentence. I do think the meat would have been not-great on account of the stress, so maybe it was for the best. I'll report back on the disposal; my uncle says he cuts open the skin and then leaves it for the sea eagles, but we don't have many of them here.

Heh. Unless I can figure out some way off this horse, I'm more likely to be riding it in circles at full gallop until the end of time. A nice graceful dismount would be nice, but at this point I'd be happy for any dismount at all.
