I'm down in the south of Sweden looking after my parents' dog while they're on vacation. Also trying to get some research done at the same time, although that's going slow. And trying to rest and get rid of my never-ending cold.

Anyway, Buddy (named after Buddy Holly, not Buddy French) is an adorable little high-maintenance Welsh springer spaniel, about ten months old. Here he is:

Hee, look at the flying ears on the second one--he turned right when I was taking the photo. He's very cuddly, and pretty much throws himself on the floor, turning up his belly, if you so much as touch him. He also likes licking my ears. I think he's worried that I'm going to disappear, too, and so he follows me everywhere, even to the bathroom. Talk about insecurity--I can't leave the house without him, or he starts to howl. This is weird, because he's also a lot more alpha and assertive than my parents' previous dog, who was an Irish setter. She was sort of submissive while also being stubborn and rather self-sufficient.

Anyway, I went for an hour's walk with him today and when I got close to the house again, I found that I'd lost his leash (I'd had him loose, as it's not a very frequented place). I'd had the leash slung around my shoulder, and it had slipped off--I suppose I was sort of inattentive, as I was listening to an audiobook. Ahem. Anyway, I was hungry and cold and tired, and went inside for lunch. And soon I'll have to go out again and look for the leash, before it gets dark and it gets snowed over. I am not looking forward to this. /o\
