1) The things people are saying to me on the podfic love meme are making me very happy. &hearts

2) Here are a couple of photos from when I was out sailing last week:

Me steering the boat.

A swan trying to bite Dad's hand. Swans really are unpleasant creatures--they hiss at you and try to bite at every opportunity. Beautiful, though.

A Papilio machaon, which Wikipedia tells me appears across the whole northern hemisphere.

3) Am pondering the hit counts on my stories at the AO3. *gazes into navel* The tag wrangler RPF stories have the highest hit counts, which is not that strange considering that they were written for (and about) the archive, and they have bookmarks. Next, strangely, comes the rewritten Child ballad. I wonder why? It's such a rare fandom. Fourth place, the due South story with the most hits, is a bondage PWP I wrote as a present for Aka. Maybe "bondage" is a really attractive tag? Then comes various dS stories (with my Big Bang fic in eighth place despite being recently uploaded--obviously length attracts readers). Strangest of all is that my Swedish translation of the Child ballad story is in twelfth place (out of 79 stories). It's an obscure fandom in an obscure language. Huh, I have no explanation. But it kind of pleases me.

4) Here are some interesting books on the Inuit that I've been reading as fic research. Most of the stuff you find is written by people who aren't Inuit, which is why I find these interesting.

The Inuit Way: A Guide To Inuit Culture, published by the Inuit Women's Association. Basically, this is what the writers think other people should know about their culture to understand it better.
Northern Voices: Inuit writing in English, edited by Penny Petrone. This is an anthology of things written by Inuit people, arranged chronologically, from first contact and traditional legends, to modern short stories and other stuff.

5) People who smash their beer bottles on the bike lanes ought to have their tires punctured. Arrgh.

And I have a few comments on the AO3, but not many (except for the stories that were primarily posted there). Hmm.
People seem to be quite shy when it comes to commenting at AO3. I don't know if it is that they are medium-to-super intimidated by the interface, that they think the author won't reply (since so many people use it for archiving purposes only) or what.

From what I understand, the general fandom consensus is that for every person who comments, there are about ten who don't. Well, at least, over here at the LJ. I don't really know if that 'rule' applies to DW or AO3. *ponders*
