1) My Yuletide nominations are:

Anais Mitchell's album "Hadestown"
the Townes van Zandt song "Pancho and Lefty"
Kim Stanley Robinson's "Mars" trilogy
Kipling's "Jungle Books"
Elizabeth Moon's "Paksenarrion" trilogy
the traditional Child ballads

I know for sure that I'm going to be requesting the first two fandoms; I haven't decided about the rest (I'm not even sure whether one gets three or four requests). This will be my first year, and I'm sure I'll be nervous at some future point, but not yet.

I'll probably post and tell you more about my first nomination soon, because it's fascinating music with great lyrics that more people should know about (and obviously because I want fic for it).

2) If you're interested in Generation Kill, I posted a podfic of [personal profile] lunasky's Free Falling Through the Nighttime Sky (Brad/Nate, NC-17, about 1h 30m). Am in the process of recording an awesome due South fic.

3) I wrote a drabble over in [personal profile] petra's journal. It's Frannie/OFC, and I was pleased because it is the first genuine comment-fic that I've written. It usually takes me some time to write, so I'm not used to something just popping out so quickly.

Yay writing!! \o/

I've listened to "Pancho & Lefty" a lot because of you! Poor Lefty! What did they force him into? *fond*

Re Yuletide requests: There are four slots. You have to use 3 slots to request 3 different fandoms. Then you can use the fourth slot to request another fandom OR you can use it to request different characters from one of the fandoms you already listed.

In the past, sign-ups were set up so you could name up to 4 characters (I think) per request. UNLESS YOU SPECIFIED OTHERWISE IN THE DETAILS BLANK and/or your Yuletide letter, your writer was supposed to include ALL the characters you name. I expect this will continue to be the rule. So, saying in the details blank, "I would love anything about any of these people, separately or together, in any combination," is fine. So is saying, "I'd love something slashing A/B, A/B/C, B/D, or gen about D." So is saying, "I have thoughts! Please go and see my Yuletide letter [link]."

(Some people make a placeholder journal post that will hold their Yuletide letter once they write it, just so they can paste that link into the details pane for their writer to have at hand. Then they can edit the letter when they've had time to think about what they want.)

Yuletide only matches people up on character, so you have to name the person/people you want the story to focus on. Likewise, if you offer to write "any" characters in a fandom, the software will hold you to it. *g*

Thankfully, the only rule is that you have to write a fic about the requested character(s) you were matched on. You don't have to cater to the recipient's details at all...although it is nice if you avoid any listed squicks. *g*

Oh wow, 'Hadestown'! What a fabulous idea! I've just now got that album running through my head. "Wait, for me. I'm coming, with you."
