Dear Yuletide writer

This is my first year doing Yuletide! Yay! I'm really excited, and would be overjoyed to get a story in any of these fandoms. In fact, I'm not even aware of any fic at all in three of these fandoms (the exception being the Mars trilogy, where a very few stories exist).

Hadestown, by Anais Mitchell

I'd love something that expands on the worldbuilding and the hints of social unrest in canon. Will there be a revolution in Hadestown? I'm also fascinated by Persephone's role in the underground and her relationship with Hades, and wondering what's going to happen to Eurydice. I'd be happy with gen, het, or femslash (any rating).

The character I'm most intrigued by is Persephone, so I'd love something focusing on her--it could be her backstory with Hades, or something focusing on the role she has in Hadestown. She appears to be giving some relief to the people living in Hadestown, but how much is she "on Hades' side"? I love the bit where she says "there's a crack in the wall". Or, hmm, what is Demeter like in this universe? I also find it interesting that the last song on the album has Persephone and Eurydice singing together. What is their relationship like? I suppose the only character I'm not that intrigued by is Orpheus.

Pancho and Lefty, by Townes Van Zandt

There are so many ways to interpret this song: are Pancho and Lefty companions? Enemies? Brothers? Lovers? Did Lefty betray Pancho? I'd love to see what you come up with about their relationship. I'm happy with slash or gen, and am fine with angst.

Huh, I don't have much to add here. I love how ambiguous the original song is, and there are really a lot of directions you could take it. (Just one thing, though--if you go with them being brothers, no incest, please.)

The Mars trilogy, by Kim Stanley Robinson

I'd prefer gen for this request, and feel free to involve any characters you like. Nadia is probably my favorite character, though, so I'd prefer if she was included. The things I like most about the canon are the political and social issues, the science, the sense of place, and the landscape description.

Yes, I do in fact enjoy the pages-long descriptions of the landscape of Mars. *g* Anyway, what I love about Nadia is how down-to-earth and practical she is, and I love to see her fixing things. I also like Ann and Sax a lot. Another thing I love about the book is that building a good society doesn't involve some sort of utopia-style absolute ideology, but is about lots of different ideas and groups of people discussing and arguing and doing stuff. It's a constant struggle, and you're never really done with it. I also enjoy the folklore-type stories about Mars.

The Paksenarrion trilogy, by Elizabeth Moon

Basically, I just love Paksenarrion and want more stories about her. Maybe about one of her quests after the ending of the book, or a glimpse of her when she's older and has a paladin-candidate of her own. Please, no romance involving Paksenarrion!

I haven't read the author's recent book set in the same world and don't know if I will, but I'd appreciate it if you don't write anything based on that book, anyway. Anyway, the Paksenarrion books are comfort reading for me, and I love following Paks' character development through the book. I also love that they are so entirely gen, and that they have a female character as a hero and a soldier. I think my dream story in this fandom would be a fic in which Paksenarrion was older and had a female paladin-candidate, and we could see Paks from her student's POV. But if that doesn't appeal to your muse, just go with whatever does!
