Oral storytelling traditions are, indeed, always fun. It's really nifty for me how the experience of the story changes with different tellers.
I love due South; I have never written in the fandom, but I read there occasionally. And obviously, I am all for things inspired by folk ballads and fairy tales. As for myself, I am very multifannish; I have written in more than a dozen fandoms, and I still think of them all as active. But yes, I am probably best known over in the Firefly corner of lj, largely because I take so many shifts on crack_van (nicely spotted, by the way!). I also do original fiction, sometimes from reworked fairy tales, sometimes in original fantasy or sci-fi settings.
