My C6DVD card has come! \o/

The envelope is addressed to Victoria.
On the back: (I hope the simple daisy is still your favorite flower?)
P. S. Please accept these tokens of my (however inadvised) lingering affections...and let me assure you that any hints of melancholy are likely due to the morphine drip. BF

A heart-shaped tin of candies, labeled "Bittersweets", and a bookmark.

On the front of the card: A broken red heart on a black background, with the word: Why?
On the back: Sticks and stones may break some bones, but love will surely kill you.
Inside the card:
V--
Please tell me.
BF

Victoria,

I find I have quite a bit of time to myself, recuperating here in hospital (that not spent contemplating the ceiling, of course--ironically I am primarily positioned flat on my back, hour after interminable hour, bullet wound and all; but I am sure the medical staff if quite competent and must know best), to review the course of events set in motion the last time we saw each other.

However, I confess that I am unable to determine, despite concerted effort, whether or not your aim was unfortunately mistaken--an ill-timed waver, caused by a bump of track?--or rather, most cruelly precise...

I wonder where you are; what you think of me as you read these words, if you even deign to open the envelope. I wonder how I am to rise from my sickbed (which, it appears, will not in fact become my death-bed) and return to a life of duty and honor which, now, can aspire to little more than empty pretense.

I cannot hope to see you again, or hope that if I did, it could end in anything other than disaster. So I am left with one question that echoes in the aching, silent stillness of each endless day--if it is indeed true that hate is simply the mirror of love, what emotion is it that has lodged in this cavernous hole in my chest?

I think this must be heartbreak. Perhaps you have killed me, after all.

Benton Fraser

The "sticks and stones may break some bones, but love will surely kill you" is so appropriate for this pairing. And oh, his black humor about the morphine drip. The image of him just lying there day after day staring at the ceiling really gets to me. Hmm, I wonder if the drugs are why he's confused about the shooting--he seems to think that she's the one who shot him. Or perhaps he's speaking metaphorically.

Thank you so much, Anonymous!

Aww! This is glorious! And I am sure he means metaphorically. *pets Fraser*
