Podfic of Academic Punk!
Apr. 27th, 2008 09:11 pmWow, this seems to be the weekend of fannish productivity for me. So much podficcing. This one has been a WIP for about a month and a half, and I finally got around to finishing it! Mmm, I love my new recording equipment.
NOTE: If you had trouble with the long mp3 version, you can download it again--it's fixed, thanks to
cybel.

Part 2, 30.05 minutes, 27.5 mb, download at Sendspace
Part 3, 29.29 minutes, 27.0 mb, download at Sendspace
Part 4, 29.04 minutes, 26.6 mb, download at Sendspace

or the whole thing as one file: 2 hours and 21.28 minutes, 129.5 mb, download at Sendspace.
There is also an audiobook with a lovely cover by
cybel, download it at Sendspace.
Reader's notes: This story is one of the classics of the fandom, and one of my favorite AU:s. Ray and Fraser are English professors, and the canon is adapted wonderfully to fit this scenario. I love the slow and delicious courtship in this story. Thanks to
thehoyden for letting me record it, I enjoyed it! If anyone wants smaller files with lower quality, I'd be glad to upload some. ETA: Almost forgot,
akamine_chan beta-listened to the first part of this. Any mispronunciations in the other parts are my fault, obviously.

Date: 2008-04-28 02:01 am (UTC)And, oh, darn, I had a bunch of pronunciation notes I wanted to give you after the last one I heard you read. My bad. One of these days I'll go through everything again and get them all to you.
Still, I enjoyed the previous one very much--you like the academic fic? Me, too! And I am looking forward to this one. I listen to fic while I draw, since I often have to draw for hours at a stretch. It gets me through. \o/

Date: 2008-04-28 06:45 am (UTC)One thing I sometimes have trouble with is voiced and unvoiced "s"--Swedish only has unvoiced "s". If I don't think about it, I do pretty well, I think, since I did learn the language as a child. But if I start thinking about it I'll second-guess myself and get all uncertain. And it's not like there's a rule about it, like in French.
Hope you enjoy this one! And yeah, I do like academic AU:s. *g*

Date: 2008-05-05 12:56 pm (UTC)But listening to your podfic made me see something new in the story, and you did such a wonderful job articulating Fraser's heartbreak and Ray's sensitive and very appealing personality. I adored them both here, and I think the investment in a new mic has been worth it: the story was clear and precise and your reading was very well done. Great job!
